She’s had viewers gripped for months now with her pancreatic cancer story line but now Coronation Street actress Julie Hesmondhalgh has said that filming the death scene was an ‘out-of-body experience'
Tonight we will see her character Hayley Cropper take her own life and be comforted by her husband Roy.
Talking about filming the scene Julie said:
‘What’s been wonderful about the way it’s been played out is that it’s been a long storyline, true to the characters – that’s a chance you don’t get in other media.‘You could have a beautifully written three-part drama about cancer but you haven’t invested in the characters in the same way. People are involved with Roy and Hayley because they’ve become real people.’
She carried on in saying:
‘I’ll get killed for saying this but I’m looking forward to being a jobbing actor again. What I know is that I’m never going to get another job like this – for 16 years to work in a job that you love, to make a difference with a character who has really touched people.‘That won’t happen again. But you need to jolt yourself – I never went into acting to play just one part.'
Millions of people will tune in tonight and we bet their won’t be many dry eyes in the country!
